Twisted Wood Ranch (TWR) consists of approximately 40 acres and is a faith centered discipleship ranch started by Shawn and Teresa Kellim in 2018. Returning to the land, preparing for the future, and teaching/discipling are the primary goals of the homestead located in Glide, Oregon. On their journey, the Kellim’s have learned to pasture raise broilers chickens, hens for eggs, hogs and cows. Shawn rightly calls them “grass” farmers because of the need to focus on pasture management through regenerative ranching. TWR recently partnered with OSU Extension to teach a class on open air harvesting, butchering, packaging and direct farm marketing of Cornish Cross Broilers. We expect to see more classes in the future that will incorporate all their farm management including the ethical growing and harvesting of farm animals from farm to plate. TWR offers Farm Direct shares for purchase and homestead tours upon request.
Situated on the same ground, Shawn Jr. (Known as Jay.) and his wife Ashlynn run Kellim Farms. They grow in square feet, not acres. Kellim Farms produces Microgreens and sells directly to their customers and restaurants in Glide, Roseburg and Tenmile OR, with pick-up sites located accordingly. Their focus is to provide the highest quality greens possible. Kellim Farms does this by sourcing organic seeds, growing medium, and fertilizer. Additionally, they also strive to deliver their microgreens at a maximum of 12 hours after harvest. This ensures maximum freshness and longevity of the crop. When is the last time you’ve seen a “harvest date” on produce? If you’re comparing microgreens, you’ll be hard pressed to find one. Kellim Farms is a Veteran owned, local family run business. You can find more information about them on Facebook, or on their website.
